As a result of the United Way’s investment and the financial support of other local donors, every child under the age of five who resides in Midland County is eligible to receive a FREE age appropriate book each month until their fifth birthday. Who doesn’t love free books?!
Early literary skills are essential to a child’s success in school and throughout life. Recognizing the need to strengthen and support early literacy in the community to ensure all young children get the best start possible, Success By Six and the Midland County ESA partnered with the United Way to launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in January 2006. Since then, over 178,000 books have been delivered to children in Midland County!

Contributions from Midland County citizens are an important source of funding for Imagination Library. Each gift, large or small, has the potential to place the magic of books and reading in the hands of a waiting child. Your gift of support to the Imagination Library helps underwrite the cost of one book per month for one child for five years. You’ll be creating a child’s personal library of 60 books!
